Nauvoo Relief Society

March 17, 1842

The very first Nauvoo Relief Society meeting took place above the Red Brick Store.

 28 April 1842 • Thursday

Thursday 28 at Two o’clock after-noon met the members of the “Female relief Society” and after presiding at the admission of many new members. Gave a lecture on the pries[t]hood shewing how the Sisters would come in possession of the priviliges & blesings & gifts of the priesthood— & that the signs should follow them. such as healing the sick casting out devils &c. & that they might attain unto. these blessings. by a virtuous life & conversation & diligence in keeping all the commandments

Book of Abraham

In early 1842, Joseph Smith completed "translating" the Book of Abraham in the upper rooms of the Red Brick Store

Nauvoo Endowment

May 1842

Joseph Smith presented sacred ceremonies and instructions known as “endowment” to Hyrum Smith, Brigham Young, and others in upper room of his mercantile store, Nauvoo, Illinois.

Nominated to Run for United States President

1844

In 1844, Joseph Smith ran as President with Sidney Rigdon as his vice president. His views are sold in a phamphlet in the store. The Prophet Joseph Smith's Views on the Powers and Policy of the Government of the United States.
